Recycled water network

Latest update as of 9:10PM on Monday 4 August.

Please be advised that Sydney Olympic Park Authority is investigating a leak in its recycled water network, which supplies recycled water for toilets and other non-drinking uses in Sydney Olympic Park and Newington. Drinking water is not impacted.

If you are a local resident, you may notice a low flow in any household systems that use recycled water over the next 24 hours. We are working with Sydney Water for temporary measures and to fully restore the water flow to affected residents.

Please check Sydney Water’s website overnight for further updates and information. We will endeavour to provide more information with an update on Tuesday 5 August.

FAQs

What services are impacted?

The pipe leak impacts the supply of recycled water at Sydney Olympic Park and some surrounding areas, including Newington. Recycled water is used for toilet facilities, irrigation systems and car wash services.

Can I flush my toilet?

Water supplies are low, meaning that whilst the water is still running, it is at a very low flow. Where possible, consider using small buckets of tap water to flush toilets as an interim solution.

Is drinking water affected?

Drinking water is not affected by this issue.

What is being done to fix the problem?

We are working closely with Sydney Water to identify the source of the issue and implement immediate mitigation measures.

Should I stop using irrigation systems?

Yes. Residents are advised to stop irrigation and car washing to conserve recycled water until the issue is resolved.

How long until the issue is resolved?

It is unclear how long the issue will take to be resolved and for water pressure to resume as normal. Please check Sydney Water’s website overnight for further updates and information. We will endeavour to provide more information with an update on Tuesday 5 August.
